INDIA VERSUS PAKISTAN
It would not be a extent of coloring to state that the India-Pakistan rivalry in cricket is the most passionate in all of sports. Undoubtedly, it is more exciting than Australia-England – even though Ashes is the oldest contest in the sport.
Matches are seen as opportunities for negotiation between a volatile part of the world but contests between them have been scarce in the past decade.
Unfortunately, the difference between government relations and political parties ruin through the governing bodies with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) .
Since 2007 India not played any test series against Pakistan. The Indian government not allow India’s cricket team to play with Pakistan but the countries only meet in International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments.
India’s sports minister Vijay Goel said last year that “cricket and terrorism can’t go hand in hand” that’s why Pakistani cricketers are not allowed to play in the Indian Premier League(IPL) which attracts cricket’s best talent annually.
During the Asia Cup, there was a double dose of India-Pakistan but the matches were disappointingly one-sided. India gained some revenge after being thrashed in the Champions Trophy in 2017 final .
Pakistan’s crowning achievement this millennium and a match that was one of the most obsessed in the sport’s history. A Bangladesh upset of Pakistan prevented a dream Asia Cup final between the furious rivals.
When the teams used to play bilateral series, the overwhelming emotion occasionally lost over dangerously prominently in kolkata in 1999 when 70,000 fans were disappointed after protesting an umpiring decision.
These days, the irritation between the fans have generally been pushed aside to underline the longing for a return of regular matches, which still seems a way off.
With cricket’s most compelling contest absent, the World Championship is on the back foot before it even begins. “As per the plan, those who didn't play in the first cycle would play in the next,” ICC chief executive Dave Richardson said recently. “I know India and Pakistan are talking along those lines. We will try to facilitate that.”
