WORLD CUP 2019

In 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019  which is to be hosted by England and Wales, from 30 May to 14 July 2019.The first match will be played in  Oval and final will be  in Lord’s.It is fifth time that cricket world cup held in England and Wales,following the 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999.

The format of tournament will be single comprises of 10 teams in which one team played nine matches against other teams and the top four teams goes to semi final.

QUALIFICATION

From previous world cup that is 2011 and 2015 there are 14 teams now it is  decrease  to 10 teams..The hosts England and seven other teams automatic qualify on 30 september 2017 due to ICC international rankings and rest two teams decided 2018 World cup qualifier.

VENUES

The venues for  the tournament was released on 26 April 2018 after the completion of an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Kolkata. London Stadium had been named as a possible venue in the planning stages, but unfortunately ICC confirming that the pitch dimensions would not perfect with the requirements to host ODI matches.There are 11 stadiums in which all matches were played.

SQUADS

The ICC said that all the participating teams had to submit the names of their respective World Cup squads by 23 April 2019.The teams are allowed to change their players in the squad of 15-man anytime up to seven days prior to the start of the tournament.In World cup  New Zealand were the first team to announce their squad.

GROUP STAGE 

The group stage comprises of ten teams in which one team play nine matches which means total 45 matches played The top four teams from the group will progress to the knockout stage.In history of cricket a similar format was used in the 1992 Cricket World Cup, though that tournament featured nine teams instead of ten. 

KNOCKOUT STAGE

After Group stage there will be the knockout stage that  will see two semi-finals, with one  winners of each match reach  to the final at Lord's. On 25 April 2018, it was reported that Old Trafford and Edgbaston would host the two semi-finals just as they did back in 1999.

SEMI-FINALS

After knockout stage there will be two semi-finals.First semi will played on 9 July 2019 in Old Trafford,Manchester and second match on 11 July 2019 in Edgbaston,Birmingham.

FINAL

The final match played in Lord’s London on 14 July 2019 between winner of semi- final 1 and winner of semi- final 2.
